TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint. That is the pair of jaw joints where movement occurs between upper and lower jaws. They are sometimes afflicted with problems but more frequently it is the jaw muscles that are most painful and affected. Symptoms such as jaw and facial pain, earaches and ear pain. headaches. difficulty opening, closing, and chewing, are all primary signs of the TMJ disorders.
At Smiles By Design, a screening exam and brief history is offered to find out if the patient is a TMJ candidate for treatment or not. We also provide treatment for relief of tooth grinding or bruxism.
